Bark's Glossary

  • Barkburn

An insult so raw and true it bypasses your ego and nestles directly into your insecurities. Usually delivered by a friend, therapist, or wise street-dog.

“He said I was addicted to almost-healing. That barkburn still stings.”

  • Snifflective

Deeply introspective, but through vibes and instinct rather than logic. Often leads to life-changing revelations after smelling rain.

“She stood in the wind, got all snifflective, and dumped her accountant.”

  • Couch of Consciousness

The soft, sacred place in the mind where you overanalyze everything. Not to be confused with actual furniture. Though both get chewed.

“He just sank into the Couch of Consciousness and replayed 2014.”

  • Muttaphysics

The intersection of cosmic truth and nonsense. Where barking at the void becomes insight. Studied primarily by dogs, monks, and toddlers.

“Time is a leash tied to memory. That’s muttaphysics, baby.”

  • Leash Logic

The art of convincing yourself to stay stuck because it feels safer than biting through the tether.

“Sure, I could quit my job. But then I’d lose the benefits. Classic leash logic.”

  • The Squirrel Loop

A mental spiral caused by replaying the same intrusive thought on repeat while accomplishing nothing except emotional tail-chasing.

“He’s been in a squirrel loop since she said ‘We need to talk.’”

  • Barknosis

The irrational belief that everything is a sign or a test. Common among overthinkers, poets, and dogs who once saw a duck and never recovered.

“I got ghosted and found a feather. Classic barknosis spiral.”

  • Emotional Zoomies

Sudden, chaotic bursts of joy, grief, or rage with no clear target. Lasts 30 seconds or a lifetime.

“Therapy unlocked something. I had emotional zoomies for a week and redecorated my soul.”

  • Bark Twain

Bark Twain is a dog with unconventional liberties in a psychiatry for dogs. He shares his experiences on his Podcast “Bark Side of the Mind” which he fills with interviews and meetings of and between historical figures, other patients and the staff like Dr Tiger and Dr Zebra. All of which may or may not be fictional and came to life through the haunting experiences collected through decades of fixing what behaviorism and dog training mess up.

  • Brain-Fetching

When your mind throws itself a thought and fails to bring it back. Often leads to staring into the fridge, wondering what life was.

“She was mid-sentence and just… brain-fetched herself into silence.”
